Mad about Minx: Local salons offer hottest trend in nail fashion
Why should celebrities like Beyonce and Rihanna be the only ones to enjoy cutting-edge nail technology? Women everywhere can look and feel like a star when wearing Minx, a hot form of nail art that takes fashion to a new level.
"Minx is for women looking for another way to make a statement with their nails," says Laura Scheidecker, owner of Laura's Nail Salon, 5201 Kingston Pike, Suite 7, in West Knoxville.
"Basically, Minx is a laminate nail coating that goes over nails. When you heat it up, it shrinkwraps to the nail," explains Scheidecker. Some of the most popular Minx options are metallic colors, including gold, silver, red and black. Minx also offers a plethora of patterns, including plaid, argyle, bandana, herringbone, fishnet and cheetah.
"The designs are so interesting and pretty. They are so intricate that a manicurist probably couldn't paint them, or if they did, it would be expensive," says Annette Winston of West Knoxville. Winston, a Laura's Nail Salon client, has tried two different Minx looks.
In addition to the variety Minx offers, clients and manicurists love the fact that the application process is quicker and involves fewer chemicals than other nail enhancement.
